Terms and Conditions
Once a reservation is made, You automatically agree to comply with our Terms and Conditions. Where a company, agency or similar has made the booking on your behalf, the agreement is with that third party. Third parties should ensure that You are aware of these terms and conditions.
Definitions
The “Contract” means the contract entered into between the Parties on making a reservation at the Property directly with The Retreat Country House under the Terms and Conditions herein.
The “Parties” means the parties to the Contract, being:
(1) guests at the Property including spouses, heirs, assigns and visitors; and
(2) The Retreat Country House.
The “Property” means property at The Retreat, Laurel Walk, Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland, P72XN70 (including the surrounding gardens included in the exclusive private rental).
“The Retreat Country House” means The Retreat Country House (registration number 733197).
“We” means The Retreat Country House.
“You” means guests at the Property including spouses, heirs, assigns and visitors.
Stays At The Property
The Property is a self-catering vacation rental of the entire Property. The Property is not to be used for events or parties without prior written notification to and permission in writing from The Retreat Country House. Separate rates and insurance conditions attach to events and these will incur additional charges. While children are welcome, prior written notification is required. Children must be supervised while at the Property and due respect must be given to the Property and its contents at all times.
Your Booking
Your booking is as contracted for the number of nights and people. You are not allowed to have additional people staying in the Property and above the number contracted without prior written agreement. The Retreat Country House reserves the right to charge the full rate for any such unauthorised stay and/or to terminate the booking.
Rental Rates
All rental rates are based on renting the entire Property for exclusive use. The tariff and information listed on our website is correct as at the time of publication and may be subject to change without notice.
Energy Rates
Heating and hot water for two hours each morning and two hours each evening is included in the booking fee. If additional heating is required by You, You will be charged according to the number of units used for both electricity and gas based on the most recent utility bills. This will be payable on departure.
Booking A Stay
To confirm a booking we require a non-refundable booking deposit, payable via PayPal or bank transfer.
The balance is then due for payment 12 weeks before arrival.
Cancellations
In event of cancellation the following charges will apply:
a) Booking deposit is strictly non-refundable under any circumstances
b) 6 to 2 weeks before date of arrival 50% cancellation charge will apply
c) 2 weeks or less before date of arrival 100% cancellation charge will apply
Refunds to credit cards are also liable to a 1.5% deduction.
We strongly recommend that You take out appropriate travel insurance to cover You in the event of cancellations.
Security Deposit
Upon arrival a security / damage deposit of €500 is payable which can be authorised against a credit card. Any damage, breakages or additional cleaning will be charged to the card at departure. Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right to make a charge to the guest’s credit or debit card, or send an invoice for the amount to the registered address. We will however make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.
Check-in & Check-out
Check-in is after 5pm on the day of arrival. Check out on the day of departure is by 10am unless previously agreed.
Pets
A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed. We respectfully ask that pets are kept in the downstairs tiled area of the Property. We do not charge extra for your pet but we do ask that You clean up after them.
Smoking
The house on the Property is a strictly non-smoking house. We respectfully ask that You smoke outside in the courtyard area on the Property. A cleaning charge of €200.00 per night will be levied on You/guests who smoke in their rooms.
Parking
There is private parking on site. Please note that parking is entirely at your own risk and we cannot accept any liability for loss of or damage to any vehicle or its contents.
Private Catering Waiver Of Liability
In the event that You hire a private chef to provide private catering services at the Property, You hereby agree to release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the owner of the Property or The Retreat Country House, its affiliates, direct or indirect, officers, employees, business and agents from liability from any and all claims resulting in personal injury, accidents or illnesses (including death), and property loss arising from, but not limited to, purchasing such private catering services.
It is your responsibility to inform the private chef directly of any dietary requirements.
A waiver of legal rights and exclusion of liability form in respect of private catering must be completed by You on arrival. A copy of this form can be obtained prior to arrival by enquiry to info@retreatcountryhouse.ie.
Behaviour
If You behave in a disruptive manner, cause damage to the Property or behave in any other manner deemed unreasonable or anti-social by The Retreat Country House, rental of the Property may be terminated immediately with no rental refund.
Security
The Retreat Country House requires the front door and rear doors of the Property to be closed and locked at all times when You are not at The Property during your stay. We request that You follow this safety and security measure. We reserve the right to refuse admission and exclude visitors from the Property.
We also ask that You read our fire notice that can be found in each bedroom.
A booking-in form must be completed by You on arrival.
Data Protection
The Retreat Country House retains your contact details as an integral part of the booking process. We are required to retain your registration for a year. We may contact You in the future with a newsletter, but you can opt out at any time. We will not share your information in any other way with any third party.

Miscellaneous
We will use our best efforts to return any items left behind by You after your stay, but reserve the right to recoup any costs incurred by The Retreat Country House.
Any dispute or difference of any kind whatsoever which arises or occurs between any of the parties hereto in relation to any thing or matter arising under, out of or in connection with this Contract shall be referred to arbitration by an arbitrator to be agreed between the parties or in default of agreement to be appointed on the application of either party by the President (or other office endowed with the functions of such President) for the time being of The Incorporated Law Society of Ireland or (in the event of the President or other officer as aforesaid being unable or unwilling to make the appointment) by the next senior officer of that Society who is so able and willing to make the appointment and such arbitration shall be governed by the Arbitration Act 2010. Alternatively a claim may be pursued through the Small Claims Court.
Any stipulation which shall be or become void, illegal or invalid or shall contravene any legislation for the time being in force shall, while the same shall continue to be void, illegal or invalid, be deemed to have been severed and omitted from the Contract provided always that neither inclusion or severance as aforesaid shall prejudice the enforceability of the remaining Terms and Conditions herein.
The Contract shall be governed by the laws of Ireland.
